Mostly wondering who Gorski is. We were ripping up some old floor boards in an extremely old house and I found this wrapped in foil. If anyone could help that would be amazing.

looks like a political item given out to enlist a vote during an election. The Lincoln Cent looks like a war-time steel cent, so that could put the election anytime 1943 and forward. Is it blank on the back?

Thank you fuzzy. That would make sense since it was found in a house very close to the Illinois border. My google skills were not up for this job for some reason. The penny itself is a regular war steel penny. Front and Back are normal.

Which raises the question, is that a 2 x 2 flip? And if so, how long have they been in use?

He means the cardboard holder the coin is in (2 inch by 2 inch). Coin collectors all use them today, but they've likely been around since the advent of cellophane in 1912.
The coin shop I frequented as a child in the late 1970's would hand out steel cents in 2x2's like this, at Christmastime, to advertise the establishment. The wartime steel cents looked so striking, people kept lots and lots of them as mementoes in the 40's, so they are quite common. Makes for an eyecatching but cheap advertising ploy.

Ahh. I understand now. I'm familiar with the penny but couldnt find a forsure answer about who Gorski was. It does make sense that he was a rep for illinois because the old house was right a the state line
