I have a question, that is coming up with little or no response in the token community. Here is the photo:
Looking-For-Any-Info-On-This-Token?
It was minted by Hoffman and Hoffman
The questions I have are as follows.
Does anybody know of a location that used this token, or is using this token currently?

What was the name of the business that used it?

Was it a stand alone arcade?

Were the machines in other venues?

What locations as in what part or section of the country are/were they located in?

Or anything else you can add?

I figure with the widely located membership base of the forums I might be able to piece some info together.

The reason for my inquiry, is some of the silly description and the touting that they are vintage and rare. Because somebody with a metal detector found one, and is now selling it on ebay with the "Rare, vintage tags in the description, considering that I just must have corned the market on them with my bulk buy I figure I might be able to get on the gravy train
Any info will be passed on to the token collectors group for adding into the data base. As of right now the only info is an attribute to Des Moines Iowa!
thanks

I found the token listed under "Modern Tokens" with
no location of the company or date at:

There were 1,000s upon 1,000s made and metal detectorists find them regularly. Although listed on E-Bay as RARE, they're really not... and not worth much

I had somebody contact me from one of the forums and ask about it as the people on metal detecting forums think anything they dig up is "vintage and rare" when the list it on ebay. I'm still trying to find the button that makes it "vintage and rare"
Yes Forrest is on the yahoo group for tokens that I am a member of and the only other info is the Des Moines location.
Like the obverse states. "NO CASH VALUE"

I believe that is the one he was asking about. Told him that I would send him 2 uncir's with free shipping for $5.00. I figured that way he could have the two sides showing at the same time. Haven't heard back yet

I would like to get some better and more info so that it can show up in the searches rather than the ones that just show the "rare and vintage" I have a phone number and will call tomorrow and see if the company has any connection to the listed company. I think it is a little strange that posting on 6/7 forums of different kinds. Nobody has recognized the token or what type or name of the business, that the arcade machines were in? But that's life on the web!

Well the lead to a company with the same name located in downtown Des Moines Iowa is a bust. As the phone is disconnected. I have pieced together a short time line they were minted pre 1999, since that is the year the mint changed their mint marks and was absorbed by a larger company.

I would have thought that some member in the Des Moines area might have had some knowledge about them.

Well we now know they are neither vintage unless 14 to 20 years is vintage, and since there are so many that are uncirculated they aren't "RARE".

Maybe somebody will turn something new up

I have one that looks like yours on the front but the back shows a horseshoe with a star in front of the horseshoe. Only words "no cash value". Not a clue where it came from. Does this description mean anything to anyone?

What you are describing is a generic/stock arcade token. Meaning that you can pic what you want to be on both sides from the stock dies in the companies catalog. Very common and turns up in very bulk buy of tokens. worth any were from.08 wholesale to what ever somebody wants to pay to add it to their stash. From.25ยข to a $1.00 is what I have seen them selling for.
