I got this cool Lincoln Cent in my change. I see the front is scratched and the back has a weird looking line. The left side of the rim on the back looks weird too. I was searching for doubling on the letters but no luck. Even if this is worth a dollar I still going to keep it.

Thank you, when it comes to errors I know nothing. I don't remember what it's called.

That is pretty cool. I have never seen a radial die crack on a Lincoln Cent!

The line on the reverse is a die crack, common enough that it would add no value to the coin. I not sure about the rim but what ever it is it is minor. Still an interesting coin.

Alright thank you, I just wasn't sure if it was called die crack or something else. I am going to put the coin inside a 2x2 though.

I would call that a die break.
Die crack = Light crack across the die.
Die chip = Part of the die is crumbling away.
Die break = Same as die crack except, part of the die is crumbling away. Making a wider crack.

Thank you very much eveyone! Like I said, don't care if it's worthless. I just like the die break on it. It would be cool if the coin was worth to slab.

It's a die crack, pure and simple.

It is not worth slabbing because it would cost over $100 and it is not worth that much but it is a very cool find. I have not seen any that have thick die cracks/breaks that go from the bottom edge to the center of the coin. It is pretty common to see cracks going a short distance from the corner of the memorial building to the rim. I would save it and add it to my error collection with a radial die crack/break designation.

@7TF, thanks, but this is the first time I have ever found one of these.

Solotime, I think you are taking Mike's comment wrong. He was letting you and Coop know it isn't to the point of being die break but instead is simply a die crack.

I think the image made some of us think the crack was bigger than it is. The toning around the crack makes it look larger. It is still a cool find and I would put it in my collection. Keep searching and you will find some really amazing looking coins.

With regards to your second question concerning the rim, I think that error is called "finning". It's when too much strike pressure is applied and some of the metal gets pushed out into the tiny gap between the collar and the neck of the die.
