There is a very nice article in the recent CN Journal (July/August issue), of one man's fight against the tsunami of Chinese counterfeit coins into Canadian numismatics... @ noahs-numismatics, if you are an RCNA member it's available online now,my hard copy doesn't arrive 'til about the 15th. "Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Well-deserved recognition! IMO he has made the best contribution to Canadian collecting so far this millennium.

I have major issues with China for a number of issues. Chinese counterfeits seem to be a plague not only for numismatics but just about everything else. Simply put, China does not play by the rules politically or economically. People need to be aware of that fact. I try to boycott Chinese goods whenever possible, but it is difficult when almost everything is made there.

China has been the hub of counterfeiting for over 500 years (probably more than that).
They are master craftsmen in this field.
I'm guessing it'll never end.
