I agree with F-12 but I am not seeing the scratch that others are seeing. There is a dark line across the face that sort of has the the look of a pencil mark though I doubt that is what it is. Anyways, it look superficial and not dug into the surface like a scratch would. With that said, I think a case can still be made for an old cleaning since the surfaces appear a tad bright for a coin in this grade.

I agree with DoubleEagle, it is not a scratch. I think it will come off if I soaked it. Looks like crud to me. It looks to be sitting on top of the coin. I should probably soak the coin to get it off so it isn't confused with a scratch. I agree with an old cleaning, like you see with many old coins unfortunately. I was thinking of soaking that line off since I thought people would confuse it as a scratch.
