This started out as a lump of dirt/clay with just a slight color showing. The coin dealer of course gave it to me as it had to be junk since it was plastic. Well it cleaned up very nice and only a slight discoloration. It really doesn't give much info, It could be part of a souvenir set from the castle, it could be some kind of play money. Just another pleasant surprise out of the junk box. Do we have any play money collectors in the forum? Edited by Circus 07/07/2013 10:18 am

While I dont pursue them, I accumulated or been given over 100 pieces. My largest brand is Uncle Sam's play money. Like CEC (Chuck E. Cheese) tokens, some pieces bring seemingly rediculous $$.

I don't know for sure, but I think it may be a bus token. Many transportation tokens in the UK use famous buildings and castles, but they usually have the validity or fare on the reverse.

Further searching turned up this Quote: 1949 Play Coins of the World (120) These play coins are plastic coated with either brass, copper, or nickel depending on their denomination. There are three different denominations for each country which are 25, 50 and 100. The coins were distributed with either gum or lollipops. Size: 7⁄8 inch diameter well the vacuum deposited top coat had long gone away.

Now you didn't have to do that. I collect play money and up to now have been blissfully unaware of this series. 120 pieces? It's going to take me for ever.

Nope, if you go to the link from above and check out the table for them there appears to be a lot more than 120 with the assorted variations It may take longer, and here I was leaning towards a souvenir coin form the castle
