This is another coin that I received in a trade with Anoob.
A really nice thick coin with the incused Lion reverse. The obverse is a forpart of a Boar facing left.

A very early coin 550-500 BC. Enjoy!

Lycia was also mentioned in the Federalist Papers, by Alexander Hamilton. The Lycia democratic system was one of the models used in the organization of the Government in the early days of the US. A footnote in history, but interesting reading none-the-less.

This coin is also a lot bigger and chunkier than other coins of this period. The coin is from Lycia not Lydia. The coin was minted around the time Lydia was defeated and annexed by Cyrus the Great of Persia.
