I listed this coin on ebay with a start of $2.99. No bids. Nada. While it isn't the most beautiful FE I've seen, I thought it a fairly solid G/VG, despite the verdigris, though I suppose the reverse is rather weak. Did I miss something?

I would have kept it. Only about a G4, unfortunately. 'STATES OF' and 'CENTS' are almost gone.
For most folks who would want a Flying Eagle, a higher priced (and condition), example is worth extra pain to obtain. Nevertheless, there is always the 'value for money' hunters out there.

I think it is the nicest design of all the pennies. Copper low nickel also helps to make it interesting.

If you really want to move it on, perhaps it would have been better to include it in a group of coins and hope for more cash for the group.

Was your shipping real high ? Sometimes that will keep the bidders away.

Actually the shipping on the listing is free.

I missed Sean's censored post -- was it interesting?

Too bad we couldn't see your listing, we could help you. There is a section here that deals with ebay.

Aside from the verdigris it looks like a nice albeit heavily circulated coin. Worth more than $3, in my opinion more in the $8 to $10 range. I agree with jpbone .... If it can't bring a decent bid on ebay why not keep it?

I find that most of the bidding on some on my items occurs in the last 1 hour of the auction.

Don't know if it was CCF legal to post that link though...

Forums are hilarious with their rules. I remember not joining for YEARS and only lurking because I was afraid of getting called to the principles office. I haven't broken any rules (that I know of) yet, but I'm sure it is bound to happen sooner or later. Maybe I just broke one rule by using, I mean, screaming the word "years" by putting it in all caps. Sorry if I hurt anyone's ears! : )

I thought your listing was over and you had no bids on it. Heck you still had 4 days to go.
