I've seen this kind of blanched grey surface on original coins before. But when photographed at a certain angle, you can see a certain reddish hue on the pretty lady:

It's easy to make it disappear (if I were like most ebay sellers):

Any chance this coin would avoid a details grade? How would you grade it?

I'd say good details- has some nice detail for the grade, G6. Nice coin!

I like it as a G-6. It may have cleaned a long time ago but I think it has retoned enough to grade problem free.

G4 to me, the scratch on the reverse keeps it from G6 not that is a big difference anyways a good is a good in most cases as to value.
