I wonder whether the Mint will put out a coin for the impending birth of Prince William's and Kate Middleton's baby? I believe the baby is due pretty soon. I understand that the child will be a future king or queen. It could be a real collectible.

I bet the mint will put out multiple coins celebrating the birth of the new royal. The upcoming birth is such huge news that it only seems logical to see a royal baby coin. The question is that if the RCM puts out multiple royal baby coins, will all of them be collectible? Or will there be one that will stand out? If the RCM times the release of a baby coin with the actual birth of the royal baby, that coin should be released soon, probably with a generic baby related symbol since there's no way that the RCM knows what the gender of the baby will be.

I'd have thought they'd at least wait until the child is named. I can't see the point issuing a commemorative coin for "Baby X".

Just what we need, another reason to buy a special monarchy coin.

The mint generally plan their coins more than a year in advance. I'd be surprised if they have anything planned for little baby what's his name yet.

They'll issue a generic royal baby coin with a pram or rattle, and then another coin with a picture of William, Kate, and baby in the future. There's no telling how much the RCM could milk this royal birth!

I read recently, that every child born in Britain, on the same day as the royal baby, will be given a "Lucky" silver Penny. Steve

Monarchy coins sell well. Thre seem to be a lot demand for them. The Mint have sold out their 60th anniversary Queen monarchy coins quite rapdily. I think monarchy coins do better than gimmicky Glow in the Dark Coins.

This could be a "hot" coin. Wondering, if RCM will also distribute them. Or, actually will produce 2013 Canada Lucky Silver Penny ... limited mintage, probably set, with venetian glass rattle on top of it.

There are coins coming. Set to release in August. A set of 3 royal baby coins for $250 and 2 singles. The design hasn't been revealed yet.
