Okay... I have a lot of "common" coins... really not worth anything major.. but I have enjoyed collecting them over the years... I have never bought or sold on ebay or anywhere else for that matter, but it's really time I have to clear out some of the old stock ... My question to you is what would you recommend? E-bay. ecrater ... or somewhere else... Most of the stuff I'm looking at getting rid of I am not in a big rush to sell but would rather see it just go to a good home ... nickel dollars... radars and replacement notes etc... nothing too spectacular... Any advice from those that have done this I would appreaciate

Ecrater has its advantages but ebay gets A LOT more web traffic. In all honesty its really hard to compete with the amount of traffic ebay gets and thats probably your best bet. You can try putting them together in lots or series of consecutive dates. You could actually list them on both and just see where they sell first, just remember to end the listing on the other site when they sell

Basebal hit it, ebay would be your best bet even though the fees are high. eCrater would cost you nothing and you can leave the listings up as long as you need to, but sales are much slower there. If you are not in a hurry, use eCrater, if you want to move them fast, try ebay.

I don't think that many here on CCF would like these coins personally... I find that the collectors that are on these types of forums are pretty "into" their hobby ... my coins are a lot more "common" ...
I get the difference in traffic between e-bay and ecrater... but I've also heard it's hard to sell if you don't have a "rating" of some sort already on e-bay... since I've never sold anything online I would imagine that my rating would be zero and people may not wish to purchase from me...
Furthermore I'm a bit skeptical about the fees.. with e-bay fees and pay pal fees I feel I would have to over price my items...just to break even...
Most of my stuff I would sell wouldn't be for much over face so I dunno.. sounds like ecrater may be the way ... I haven't looked that much into it...
Can anyone tell me if a Canadian can set up a store? And how easy/difficult it is to do a transaction... what method of payment is most commonly used... that sort of thing...?
To answer the one person's question.... yes I have both silver and gold dollar coins... but I would probably stick to more of my most common coins and notes to sell at first...
If/when I ever get enough posts that you can send me a message.... by all means do so though.. in terms of silver dollars aside from the '48's ... I probably have one or two extras I would be willing to part with.
Thanks to everyone so far for all your input.. and if anyone could give me more details about their experience setting up a store on ecrater I would greatly appreciate it...

Theres some truth to that, but generally items like those are the ones people will take a chance on with brand new sellers. Its the first time sellers selling raw pricey coins that raise the red flags for most people. If you ever thought youd be selling more expensive stuff in the future these would be good to build up some seller feedback for that.
