So I just won this coin in an auction a few hours ago and haven't paid for it yet. I was also looking at another coin, the 1690 johann ernst. That was when I noted a difference in the appearance of the cross on the person's chest. while it seems to be longer in the 1685, the cross in the 1690 matches all the other pictures I've found of the 15 kreuzers of both issue types. I also found another picture of the 1685 coin that had a cross like the others. I took a closer look at the one I just won and it seems that the elongated bit could be from another part of the coin right below it. There was a part of the cross where it appears elongated that ends exactly like the other coins.
I'm not sure though. Are there reproductions or counterfeits of this coin in question? Despite the numerous positive reviews, the few that weren't concern me quite a bit.

Would like some pictures, but remember that dies were individually cut by hand at this time. Despite the real possibility of fakes, there is also a lot of variation between hand cut dies.

Definitely NOT! My first post in this thread still applies!
I closed out of Google completely, and came back in. Same response to the link.

haha ok. yeah I got that, but so far no similar coins have turned up. I can't really say it's different to the others in all other aspects. the letterings, the bust, positioning of the letters in relation to the pictures on both sides of the coin match with every other coin I've compared it to. here are the pictures. please tell me it really isn't a fake! as a side note, I found another 15 kreuzer leopold I coin that had instead of "XV" a "15" as its denomination. isn't that strange?

From the picture presented, this piece looks OK. 15 kreuzers was a common denomination for this time. It looks to be about 60% silver, that's OK for the period.
I have about 15 European hammered coins in my collection, of around this period. I wouldn't worry too much about the positions and lengths of the crosses on equivalent types. My first comment re hand cut dies still applies. Same principle applies also, when it comes to ancient coins, which I have been collecting for about 30 years.

The coin pictured is fine. There can be dozens upon dozens of varieties of individual coin types from this period.
