I have been considering the idea of trying to collect a type set of all the foreign coins that were minted in the US. For example, the 1905 Panama 50 Cent made in San Francisco, 1944 Netherlands 25 cent made in Philadelphia, etc.

Does anybody have or know of a master list for the US produced foreign coins either by the official US mints, or private companies such as the Franklin mint? I know that the Krause world coin catalogs often list the mint locations, but now always, and it would be a rather large undertaking to check every coin in the books, even omitting obvious exclusions such as the Soviet Union. Then again, I am not really sure anything could be excluded in such a search as there are probably some very odd minting contracts that have occurred.

Thanks!

A very interesting set of U.S. minted Australian coins can be had for not too much money:
Florins: '42S 43S, '44S
Shillings: '42s, 43s, '44s
Sixpences: '42S '43S. '44S '42D, '43D
Threepences: '42S, '43S, '44S, '42D, '43D.

If you want to collect a complete set of U.S. Minted Australian coins, there are 16 coins in all, to make a complete set. They are ALL .925 fine sterling silver, not that cheap .900 stuff!

They are also all essential, to make a complete date / mm set for each denomination, for the Australian pre decimal series.

Thanks!

I did forget to mention that I am thinking only of circulation strikes, and not commemorative coins.....

There is a list out there, but it is in no way complete. Here is an online version of the packet that I'm talking about: http://www.keysquality.com/download...cforeign.pdf. It isn't the most up to date version out there but it is a good start. There are some excel sheets that you could search for too that might be more complete.
