Nice one Serial! Still lacking one in my collection. If you did not know that it was in the lot, then it truly must have been a deceased estate. Any other finds?

If it was mine id oil it and then acetone rinse. Most of the verdigris looks pretty light and would probably come off.

Probably end up with a little staining around some of the obverse lettering, but it's better gone than there. Quote: If it was mine id oil it and then acetone rinse. Most of the verdigris looks pretty light and would probably come off.

Oiling the coin would get rid of all that Verdigris, neutralise it which is conserving the coin & stopping further deterioration. $100 to $125 on ebay.

Decades ago, there never used to be much of a problem with altered date '25 pennies.
There is now.
From the pictures, this one looks OK to me, but have a look at the '2' in this case, at 20x. Just for now, the '2' looks alright to me. I am optimistic, but it would be my inclination to take it to I.S. Wright Sydney, or some equally respected dealer, and have it confirmed.

I am now much happier.
There is an equal amount of very minor verdigris disturbance around ALL FOUR digits. No one who is interested in altering dates, would attempt ALL four of them.
This coin has been confirmed in my mind as genuine.
My compliments to the photographic effort.
