I would have missed it if he hadn't have said something under the picture. I was looking for maybe a raised number or something.

Once I figure a fair value on it, I am going to offer it up here before I put it in my ebay store. Just having a tough time finding a similar note that has sold. Have not checked Heritage yet though.

WOW - Great find, I just grabbed an older FRN $20.00 and a Star $100.00 and $20.00 this last week. Nothing that cool though.

I will offer you $100 shipped for the note with absolutely NO knowledge of what the value can be. I think its a neat story that a bunch of them slipped threw the cracks.

Oh boy.. I think you hit it big here. This one sold on HA for $2700. http://currency.ha.com/c/item.zx?sa...=16702#PhotoDo yourself a favor, send it in immediately. Congratulations! EDIT: It seems that the hype died down a bit on them now, I think a reasonable value for that would be in the $500 range, however, I am no expert on notes at all.

Since you do ebay...list it there with a start / reserve of $250 to $300 and see how it goes. The condition is what's going to hold it back. Also, list it sometime in September as it's a slow time for currency (summer time). Sept / Oct you should get some good action for this note.

I would keep the reserve on the high side considering I only came up with $500 because there was a fairly respected member on cointalk (i think?) who said he was paying $1000+ in 2011 but now only offers ~$500 (this was said in 2012)
With the economy picking up, Id assume that these would go for a bit more now than they did 1yr ago. However, yours isn't in the best condition.

Error notes are Highly Subjective from a price stand point to begin with. The condition of this note makes it a guessing game. When these notes first appeared no one knew how many had been printed. So error collectors bid them up. Based on the link I provided above there is 10,000 such Mismatched sn's star's. In the currency world that's a lot of errors. Currency can be kept tracked with SN's / plate numbers etc. Ergo, no guessing involved here. One thing the you can do is contact someone dealers and see what they would offer. IMO, you are better off going the ebay route as I mentioned above and will Get the best price at the end of the day. You can try a start at $500 but it's too much for this.. my 2 cents and I could be wrong here...only time will tell.

Thanks all for the input. I am planning on sending it in asap. I want it slabbed so I can the most for it possible. Waiting until Sept or so might increase odds, but I am in need of money now. LOL

This is funny... You start your original post with this comment Quote: I kept it only because it was a star and just a buck. I'll be at 101...jenger is at 100 edit belowIF you really wanted to get rid of this in a hurry someone here or elsewhere would have offered you a good price..... not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. Best wishes.

Ceylon, that is what is ironic about this. Had it not been a star note, I may not have noticed the error at all. It sat in my notebook because it was just a one dollar star note. I accumulate them then go through them in detail when I have a bunch.
What I am trying to accomplish? Nothing other than share my find and figure its value. Then offer it up for the folks here.

smokeriderdon Quote: Then offer it up for the folks here IF YOU are interested in trading your note for ChCu Gem short run star notes ( $1, $2 and $5) PM me with a scan of the back / we can discuss / take it from there. Cash price would be lower than a trade price. On my short run stars it's easy to determine a fair retail price and I would price my trade for them at wholesale prices (50% to 60%) on my end. BTW, I contacted someone about your note / he is not interested due to condition and being straight up as it would be tough to resell without the grade.

Ceylon, thank you for the offer. Unfortunately trading is not something I can do right now. I did get a solid offer that I am taking. Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.
