Hi All,

A friend at work scored a 1972 5 cent noodling the petty ca$h box the other week and was inspired to go through the 5 cent jar at home.
no moer 72's but she dug this one out.
Looks like a mint error to me, but what do you all think?
cheers,

Spil.

OK,
tried to get closer, all I had handy was my iphone and a 10x loupe,

G Day Spilver, Sorry there was no more 1972 5ct pieces in the jar.
But I think you may have found something a Whole lot better & way more Freakier. Excellent work!!
Cheers jpl..
PS, I will wait to for the Experts OP's on this coin with much anticipation too!

I still can't say for sure if it's genuine error or not. I'd really need to have the actual coin in hand before I made any statement as to its authenticity.

I will add that with the close up of the Obv, it's looking better for spilver but I just can't see what part of the minting process would produce an error like this. I'm still

Sorry spilver, but can you get any close ups of the edge milling?

One very odd coin spilver. I'm wondering how it's even staying in one piece! Would have to have been an extremelly hard and sharp and fine cutting instrument for it to be PMD, but like Nevol, I'm lost for a non PMD cause. More questions than answers from me.

I'm like the others with no idea of how this could be done, either in the minting process or after.
It is pretty cool though.
