Start at the tail and work your way down.

There are probably close to 150 different obverse and reverse die crack variety coins that you can find for the 1943 50 cent coins .... this is one that they let progress to a relatively late die state. Just goes to show that in the war years, the mint was undermanned with a ten fold increase in demand for the fifty cent coins, so a lot slipped through that would have been rejected in previous years.

I have a few neat die cracks on 50 cent pieces. Maybe pginrh will post some of his exceptional ones.... he is the king of 50 cent pieces...:))

thought I would post this. It has cracks all over the reverse but the most noticable is the cracking around most of the letters on obverse.
