that it would be good to have it examined professionally. I think a few here would spot any probs though.

Perhaps the upper right curve on the 2 seems a tad angled, rather than curved. (Where is straightens to go to the base). But that may just be the angle. Would like some closeups of the AUSTRALIA lettering.

All in all, I think it may be real.

Extra info (link also repeated elsewhere in the forum).

Yes indeed Serial, if I'd found it I think I'd be feeling exactly the same! So glad that things like this happen, gives the adventure spirit lots of hope.

I know appleangel about the die cracks it is purely a indicator as they didn't have many dies in use and used those dies more than they should have resulted in few without die cracks and a lot more with die cracks. Anyway the die cracks are a good sign and because they arn't very pronounced it was probably one of the earlier strikes otherwise I hope it is genuine for your sake but I have my doubts

Couple of positive points - the 3 is in the right place, and the 2, although looking a little funny is also correct. It would be nice to examine the bases of "ALIA" as this on the 1923 is flatter than most of the 1920's ha'pennies.

Its still iffy to my eyes,it seems wonky around the date but I've been wrong(often) before, obviously needs pro-certification.
The glut of 23's on ebay has started to wane this year so the large number for sale previously may have been caused by the GFC.

so I saw Stirling Currency today, Andrew was very helpful and we almost made a deal but couldn't quite find a common ground on price which was a real shame because he had a piece of 8 I really really wanted. so coin is real but needs some work. I am very happy and kudos to Stirling for how they dealt with me. I will be seeing them again

Andrew is a great guy but a VERRY good business man as well.
great news mate, It looked kosher to me anyway.
Bloody good on ya and stand your ground, IF you want to trade that you will do far better than a piece of 8 for it Mate
