LOL Here in the UK we use the word 'snag' to mean a problem or glitch. I guess it also means 'catch' but in a drawback sense. So I'm glad your 'snag' was a good catch! Nice coins! Hard to imagine we all spoke the same language a few hundred years back, eh?

Quite so, Mate
It can mean that here too, also a catch as you say.

I too was amused by the ambiguity of the thread title here; I think in US English one uses the verb to say "I got something" ("I snagged a bag of rags!") and the noun is used to refer to an impediment (problem, glitch, as Tom says above). In such cases what one usually does is to "hit" or "run into" a snag. Does this potentially completely bogus distinction work in British English? I may be just looking for a linguistic reason for expecting an " ebay Snag" to be a "bug"!

Starting to wish I had chosen a different word, but then we wouldn't be having rainy day fun.

I got a nice 1908-S Indian Head cent for forty bucks last night on ebay. We'll see what it looks like in hand. If its as nice as it looks on line it will be a good pick up.

Winston Churchill said it best.... Speaking about Britts and Americans, he said " a common people separated by a common language."
