Is there anywhere to look up a registry for hoard coins? I have a postumus supposedly from the wareham hoard but did not receive any documentation with it. While I know I could never prove it is from there without original documentation it would be nice to look it up.-Whizb4ng
A Long Shot, but the Best Shot is to try a search in the P.A.S. website, if it was found in the U.K. and stated to be registered, it might be on the site:

He said that it was all declared and checked etc etc, but the grumpy fella was not in a talkative mood so I couldnt get any more info from him about it unfortunately.-BenByfield
I guess he was grumpy as you managed to get a good selection.
That is his problem.
Last year I bought 25 out of 125 Gallic Empire coins that were listed on
ebay by a seller.
From their Patina and the commonality of the era they were obviously from, the reigns of Gallienus-Gallic Empire-Claudius II it seemed they were from a Hoard.
I asked the seller but all he would say was that they were part of a metal detecting find by a man he bought them from, in 2006, though they were found near Harlow, Essex in 2003.

Anyhow, I recorded them myself, even making a Pie chart to show the number of coins per emperor.
No surprised, Tetricus I was the most common.
Below are a few examples from that hoard.
First is:
Gallienus, AE Antoninianus, RIC 285, Rare
Second is:
Tetricus I, AE Antoninianus, RIC 148
Third is:
Claudius II, AE Antoninianus, RIC 109
