I have several 83's like that; some are clipped, some not. Zinc has been attacked by a solution.

So it may have started off as a clip and then something ate at it. Makes sense to me. Maybe saltwater I was thinking. Thanks

I don't think it started out as a clipped planchet because I see no Blackly effect at all. Just heavy zinc rot,spend it quick. John1

John1 - is that the pushed down or squeezed affect around the edges of the clip? thanks

Not a bad planchet, just what happens when the zinc starts corroding. Environmental damage.
