Hi guys I was wondering if this would be considered a variety coin. I was coin hunting but I'm still a novice. The "D" caught my eye though. Your opinions will be appreciated.

Hello John. I think the term I meant to use is "error".
I still am not sure what the difference is between "error" and "variety".
But I know there is a distinction between them.

Might be looking at the D for an RPM
Over 150 listings on just this date for those.
Seems to be just damage though.

You can try to match mint mark with rpm's listed on coppercoins. I'm not good with circulated pennies. Uncirculated pennies don't display markers sometimes!

The coin received a hit to the lower loop area. It may have been a RPM. But I didn't see a match. The center of the MM looked interesting, but may just be something inside it? With the damage, it makes it hard to see if it was listed or not.
