1909 VDB Doubled Die Obverse / DDO FS-1101

j-win Valued Member United States 360 Posts	Posted 07/25/2013 1:28 pm I recently picked this up and I think I'm going to send it to a TPG, which I've never done before. I'm hoping it could get MS64RD with PCGS, but the PCGS population for that grade is intimidating. The two things that I'm worried about are the scratch on Lincoln's shoulder and the small nick on the reverse below "M" in "AMERICA". Also, that strange red line below the date isn't a scratch, it only shows up when the light hits it at a certain angle. It was difficult to capture the exact color of the obverse because there was so much lustre, but it's basically blasted gold all the way through, and those dark areas on the obverse are just shadows from the lightening. The second picture shows a good amount of red, but in normal lighting, you can't even see red. I apologize for the long paragraphs, but what do you guys think? Report this Post to the Staff

I missed (by that much) an opportunity to pick up an ANACS (old white holder) MS64RB on Heritage last Sunday, literally two seconds (if that much) late and it went for under $100. The FS-1101 is the more dramatic of the DDO's for the VDB.
