quick question , how much is the 1966 DDR worth? I have happend to come across one in circulation grade. I am aware that CONECA has only found one in the last 12 years . I have the third one. the initials FG are doubled, as well as the lettering about the Rim and ONE CENT...some parts of the building and there is a small die clash in one of the bays from lincolns chin.... so I have identified the die markers. Point is, how Rare is this DDR really, and how much were the 1st and 2nd examples sold for? Did the other DDR's Have doubling on the FG initials as well? If It Worth Quite a bit, I will Be giving It to My Step Father For Christmas, he Collects US coins etc but his collection was stolen, So I Want to give Him a better Collection Than he Had Before. I have NOT included a Picture only because my scanner is NOT working correctly. I Can tell you it is Red/brown in color and in circulated grade ( found it in change avout a year ago) I have it in a a Cheap white cardboard & plastic holder case. Thanks In Advance.

I'd have it authenticated and slabbed for the coin's protection. It could auction for several thousand dollars depending on its eye appeal.
Rest in Peace

Jennifer, I've been collecting Lincoln cents for most of my entire life, and I've never, ever, once heard of any 1966 DDR. Of course, I'm seven years old...

OK, OK, seriously, it will have value independent of its grade simply by virtue of the uniqueness of the error. That's not to say you throw out the grade, but that that's really the secondary determinant in the value. Just remember that, I'm saying. I also just checked coppercoins.com and I'm sure it doesn't come as any surprise to you that it's not listed there.

Best I know to tell you on this one. Do come back with some images anytime if you're able to.

I just caught that. It might not mean anything, but it does mean you're quicker than I am.

The 1966 DDR is real enough and quite rare. As to how many exist, that's up in the air. Bob Piazza says he has seen at least 4 others besides the ones verified by CONECA. If it is really a DDR and not MD I'm sure it will bring an pretty good price...guessing a couple grand. But I would have to see pictures before assuming it is real..having dealt with this poster before makes me a little skeptical.

I ran across this thread while doing some research. I'm not an active member of CCF anymore, but it's my hope that sharing images of this coin will benefit those who take the time to read and learn.

Recently, we purchased an example of the 1966 DDR from a serious collector. He had purchased the coin from a well known cherrypicker a couple of years ago.

As far as value, this coin is the plate coin from the newest edition of Strike it Rich with Pocket Change by Ken Potter and Dr. Brian Allen.

Coin grades AU58 with residual mint red around the obverse periphery. Coin sold for a little over $5,000.

I have a great deal of images, but don't have the time to post them all. If you'd like to see dozens of images of this variety as well as die markers, check out the thread on LCR.

Coin shows very strong Class V Doubling on nearly all devices with doubling strongest on UNITED and ONE CENT.
Here's one of the most dramatic areas of doubling: UNITED
