Wondering what the grade might be for this coin. Sorry I do not have pictures of the reverse, I am afraid of taking it out of the folder it is in.

Obverse looks AU-58. Post the reverse for an overall grade.

there is no way to determine the condition of the reverse. I know you are seaking a grade - but you are not providing enough information for someone to help you...

Good looking '31s but, you have to see the wheat heads to determine a grade. Try taking the coin out carefully, it will come out if your careful.

I think it's MS and may grade up to 62 RB but there are two prominent spots, one on the forehead and another in the right obverse field. Because of those spots, there is the possibility a TPG will call it environmentally damaged.

MS61/62 RB with a fair to midland chance of a detils due to environmental damge grade.

Seanb: This is tough one. My gut instinct is to say AU-58 based upon Lincoln's cheek bone. The problem is there's just to much RED left so the coin gets MS and there's where the problem beigns. That spot in the right obverse field is too obvious. I would say MS-62 RB and no details. A TPG should not bag this coin or grade it details but since this is a 1931-S they very well might.

Thank you very much everybody!! I truly appreciate the feedback. The coin itself was collected by my grandfather in the 1930s/40s...I also have two more but this one is by far in the best shape.

MS-63RB - I can't tell if the spots are carbon or verdigris. If verdigris, looks to be light and likely an easy conservation project.
