I found this in my wallet and I'm not sure if its just a penny that just happened to be sliver. It might be something that happens often. I just want to make sure

Looks nice doesn't it?
I suspect nickel electroplating.
It would have to be thin, because the coin has remained shiny.
Rub the edge of the rim on some coarse cloth. The copper should show up from underneath.

Weigh it accurately. If there is a significant difference from standard, this coin would then attract a lot more interest.

Looks almost like the coins we scamps coated with mercury from a broken thermometer when I was in third grade. I suppose it's a miracle we're still around.

That half silvering suggests partial immersion only in a plating solution.
