Completely Disappointed By RCM's Recent Releases

When it comes to frosting, The RCM and the R. A(ustralian M. more consistently get it wrong. Their frosting (cameo) is way too harsh (coarse). Some of the most critical fine detail is lost. Such coins often present with less fine detail in the designs than in their circulation strikes.

More often, The British Royal Mint and the U.S. Mint do much better in this regard.

I agree with most of the OP points. Here are some of my thought (as I've posted on the August Release):

Regarding the Specimen Set:
1) There are 4 annual set to collect now (if you want to have them all)? I remembered a few years back, there were only 2 sets...
2) The Silver Dollar (Arctic Expedition) now have 4 different finish/coating? That mean it would cost about $430 to collect all 4 of them... RCM know that collectors tend to achieve "complete" set so this is how they are squeezing more $$$ out of us.
Conclusion: NOT ordering.

Regarding other coins:
1) I totally agree that the Autumn Maple Canopy design is not up to par, compare to the Spring coin, mainly the truncation of the maple branches and too many thin/small but dense branches squeezed in a tinier space make it look un-natural, like a mesh.
Conclusion: Order 3 to keep up & cross my finger, hoping it look better in hand (like the Autumn one, which caught many of us by surprise).

2) Barn Owl coloring scheme is like the Mallard (first clad duck) coin... I rather like the bird series coloring scheme of the previous bird coins (partial coloring of the branches/background, in addition to the bird) AND the clad Wood Duck coin.
Conclusion: Order a few to keep up.

3) No Lunar series coins since I haven't started the set. The designs are nice but the mintage make the price not worth it.

@Cowboy: I am no art expert and I'm not into art that much so the subject matter didn't attract me. On top of that, this coin is the beginning of another series. RCM had created at least 6 new series just in the last couple months. I have had enough!

Except this, I see there "hunter" and some birds. Birds again...

But will be nice for new collector that just starts.

1912 Gold Hand Selected $5 and $10. I bought them as an investment into her future and I think will have the best value when she is old enough to appreciate them.

Yep. 2nd canopy coin absolutely ruin the whole series. So disappointed about the design.
I have one first canopy coin, intial want to make a full set. But I decide to discontinue this series.
I do not want to collect a series that have an unattractive coin for me.

why are they putting that thick border on so many coins? the 1/2oz o canada coins have it, some of the Gof7 coins have it. it's unfuriating. so much wasted space.
