I found a silver coin/medal and I have no idea what is it. I've sent the pictures to a couple of my friends and no one could find out anything about it. It's worn and looks very old. The one side is about the Constitution (which is why I believe it's from the late 18th century or the early 19th century) but I have no idea about the other side. It also doesn't look like it wasn't minted because the edges are very uneven. From looking at the pictures, anyone know what it is?

yeah in the bottom left corner of the 3rd picture, there are two lines maybe initials? the first line says something like JDC or UDC or something like that and the second line either says EB or CB

the second line actually might actually be a symbol. I'll post a close up shot of it

It's actually a medal (pewter) commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the other side a string band. It's not a very old piece, more than likely 1976, but was probably used as a pocket piece. I'd post a link to where I found this information, but it's in an online store.

It's about 3/4 of the way down this retail page.

Indeed, a 1976 medal commemorating the Bicentennial, as well as the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Division. The New Year's Day parade of the Mummers up Broad Street is arguably a more cherished yearly occasion in Philadelphia than Independence Day. From the wear on this medal, I venture to guess that it was proudly carried by a string band member during every parade since 1976, and probably every day inbetween!

Here's an ad in the Reading (PA) Eagle from 1/13/1976, in which First Pennsylvania Bank offers these "official" Mummers medals. Apparently, there were two others in the series: one featuring the Mummers Fancy Division with the Liberty Bell on the reverse, and the Comic Division with Independence Hall.

There was a pewter version, but also one in silver.

So this one could be silver. One should be able to tell if this is silver just by handling it. If it seems light it would be pewter.
