Got this coin...

It has foreign language that I cannot decipher

Around the upper part of the coin it says:

"Francisco Franco Caudillo De Espana Por La G.De Dios"

Dated back in 1957

Would like to know what type and value of the coin.

Spain. The actual date will be in the little star on the reverse.

Spain 5o pesetas. First thought was not much worth than a 1$, but looks like there is a rare variety as well. Check the below and look for the edge of the coin,

If it has "Edge variety with UNA - LIBRE - GRANDE" could be worth 275$ +

Wow, thank you so much

It does indeed have Una-Libre-Grande on the edge.

What is the tiny date in the star on the reverse - to the left of the eagle? It will just be the last two numerals.

It is 60 I believe, which means it was made in 1960?

I'm afraid your coin is very common with no real value as it is typicially found in junk boxes.

Awe oh well, I guess I will keep it and pass it on to my kids in the future with the hope that the value will increase or so :-)

The standard edge inscription is "UNA GRANDE LIBRE" in that order (one, great, free - " a sort of moto of Franco's Phalangist movement). "UNA LIBRE GRANDE" is an error. Be sure to distinguish which one you have.

Probably 95% of the world coins posted by new members asking for identification & valuation are the sort which end up in dealers' "ten for a dollar" trays. This one may be convertible into 30 Euro cents by the Spanish government.
