I have a 1987 reverse Lincoln Cent with an unusually high rim and almost all of the "United States of America" is doubled. The picture isn't the best, it was shot with my digital camera against the lens of a 40X powered microscope. The Microscope camera will be here this week.

When I see Mechanical Doubling, I usually see a few letters or numbers with it, and that's it. The doubling in the pic looks low, but its not much lower than the top strike.

I will add a pic pronto

Welcome to coin community family. This is Machine Doubling. Sorry

I always refer to this type of doubling as Machine doubling. It was caused by a machine, not a mechanical.

Thanks for the quick response and welcome.

No need to be sorry = ). I have been collecting for 35 years and all I can say is, that there are many things I still have not seen.

No issues! I have 3 boxes of pennies to go through and then I'll get back to the Morgan dollars for a bit.
