Recently finished CRH my first box of pennies. I'm looking for wheats, errors, and varieties, but also thought it'd be cool to put together a set of 60's, 70's and 80's that are as nice as I can possibly find in circulation. I ended with only 3 in the entire box so I'm really being selective. What would you grade them at? Thanks in advance

Nice coins ... welcome to the enjoyable world of roll hunting.

Your photos do not allow for accurate grading ... but I say all three are XF/AU

I think the pictures are deceiving. I can see the luster so I am guessing the color of the coins is off in the pictures...I will take a swing at them though...

On the rim of the 1984 about the 10 oclock position is that a "Railroad Rim" Maybe I am over thinking but could that have caused the plating to split on the opposite side of the coin?

Your pics are too poorly lit. Use a little more light with a white background and calibrate your white balance. Are the pics post-processed? They look like they may have been adjusted. A good coin picture requires no post-processing (other than to resize for web use).

They're on a white background, using my phone camera. Zoomed in as much as I can without getting blurry and stationary about 3 inches above the coin. Lighting is a desk light about 10 inches away. This is the best I could come up with. Certainly open to any and all suggestions for better pics, thanks.

EDIT - The bulb in the light is a 40 watt. Perhaps if I switched to a higher wattage bulb and the same setup it would yield better results? Or am I just doomed because it's a phone camera?

Does the phone have a white balance calibration option?
