Any insight as to the value would be appreciated.
The ones I've got are circulated pennies, no proofs. I want to sell them all at local coin store but not get ripped off. Here's what I got, any insight will be appreciated. 40'S 50'S 60'S 70'S 80'S...

Next to dateless Buffalo nickels, the last thing any coin dealer wants is more Lincoln cents. If they are low grade, maybe a few cents each. If AU, maybe 50 cents.

BTW, unless the LMCs are strong AUs, don't bother with them.

I believe my local shop would pay maybe 3 cents for wheats 1930 and up. Nothing for the rest. Sorry.

My LCS offered me $.015 per wheatie. I guess that was a polite way of saying "we don't want them".

Try putting them all together on ebay. You will probably get more than the coin shop will give you.

My LCS won't buy them from people. They turn them away constantly. I agree with the ebay route though, as much as I have grown to hate ebay. That would be a good option for selling them in larger quantities.

Well if you sell them on Craig's list make sure you meet the buyer at your local Police Station.

Quote: Well if you sell them on Craig's list make sure you meet the buyer at your local Police Station. Maybe for a extremely valuable transaction... But I've bought many coins off of Craigslist, the biggest transaction seven hundred dollars, and six another time.. And I usually just meet in a parking lot somewhere. For the most part Craigslist is safe, more honest people than people literally trying to rob you.. And you should be able to get a feel for those people before meeting. Maybe for a $1000+ I'd say meet more public but for $5-10 in pennies? But then again I have a LTC and always carry.. So maybe I'm less worried than the average non gun owner.. But I've bought and sold many coins and even more other things and have never met anyone except honest, kind folk.. But to each his own.. But even on Craigslist unless there wheats, and early wheats at that (1909-20's) circulated would probably still only be .03-.04 apiece.. A bit more for the earlier ones (again teens and 20's) but not much more at all. That or the Bay would be your best bet.. My LCS won't even take circulated wheats let alone LMC's...

My LCS also buys them for 3 cents per wheat. Sells them in bulk for 5 cents each. Not a huge profit to be made here I am afraid. Best bet is ebay.

I usually meet my buyers at a Barnes and Noble or Starbucks or somewhere like that. National chains, of course, with security and video cameras and stuff... Just in case.
