I just received this Morgan from a very good friend of mine as a thank you gift for helping him purchase a live steam locomotive. He had gotten it many years ago from the daughter of a coin shop owner who used to babysit him.

It looks to be at least VF to me, but I'd like some expert opinions. Being a semi-key, I want to get a good protective display. Any advice? I'm planning on taking it to the coin shop in town to at least get a flip for it. Still not sure about grading.

Excuse the lighting in these pictures.

What is your eventual goal? Do you want to set it out for display on a table/shelf, or hang it on the wall, or have it in a coin album?

get an Air-Tite (?sp), that way you can hold it and look, as you wish, and let others see it. They are under a dollar, and there are 'direct fit' ones for Morgans. Just make sure when you buy it the airtite is not all scratched up.

Most likely I'll display it on a table yes. Thanks for the Air-Tite suggestion. Will check the LCS tomorrow and get one.

Luster under those devices. You have an XF45 or better grade imo with a better than average shot at AU50. nlp

EF-45 and definitely needs to be in a 2 x 2 at the very least.

Took it to the LCS earlier and got a 2x2. Shop owner graded it XF-45. For now I'll keep it in the flip, perhaps later upgrade to an airtight holder. Thanks everyone. :)
