1853 California Half Dollar Gold Is It Real?

I do not know what is an acceptable variation for these, but I would make it my business to find out, before making a decision to buy. Perhaps an ANS member could find out for us. I guess the ANS would have many very good references on these. To my eye, the design detail on this piece is not very sharp at all. Report this Post to the Staff

judd1552 Valued Member United States 156 Posts	Posted 08/11/2013 9:23 pm Could be a genuine example of one of the common, round half dollars of this general design which would be BG-428, BG-429 or BG-430 for 1853. Edited to update: the genuine examples of the 3 varieties listed above all have a six point star beneath the wreath.
