Stumbled across this at what I felt was a fair price, so it came home with me. Not sure, though, what variety it might be. I know that it is a small date, but obviously it is repunched. Does anyone have any information or could you refer me to a site or text to help with the attribution?

TIA

Well, it's not in the fourth edition of the Cherry Picker's guide. Sorry I can't help yet!

I can't help you with attribution, but that sure is a good looking cent.

Hunter, that looks like an 1846 N-4 variety, rarity 1 (common), but there does not appear to be die cracks above "OF" or "MER" on the reverse. If that's the case, then the actual die state (State a) is scarce.

Very nice looking Large Cent

Thanks, AF, for the information. I've included a closer view of the "Of America" region of the reverse. Not knowing exactly where the die cracks are to be found, I see nothing that would classify as a die crack unless it would be the tiny line angling up from the "M".

Again, thanks for the info!
