What Variety 1846 Large Cent? - Coin Community Forum

hunter20ga Pillar of the Community United States 1173 Posts	Posted 06/01/2007 9:39 pm Stumbled across this at what I felt was a fair price, so it came home with me. Not sure, though, what variety it might be. I know that it is a small date, but obviously it is repunched. AuldFartte Pillar of the Community United States 830 Posts	Posted 06/04/2007 12:55 pm Hunter, that looks like an 1846 N-4 variety, rarity 1 (common), but there does not appear to be die cracks above "OF" or "MER" on the reverse. If that's the case, then the actual die state (State a) is scarce. Very nice looking Large Cent Report this Post to the Staff

Not knowing exactly where the die cracks are to be found, I see nothing that would classify as a die crack unless it would be the tiny line angling up from the "M". Again, thanks for the info!
