Got this in my change. A little late as the election already ended, but I had to laugh a little when I saw this.

Interesting-Stamp-On-A-$5-Bill

Looking at that certainly isn't going to change my opinion on the party I would vote for. No supporting facts or anything. Almost seems like a threat to me!

(Oh, and isn't defacing Canadian currency illegal. Just saying...)

Not another Conservative attack ad! (I don't actually see them much in Alberta - possibly out of hubris)

I feel sorry for the poor sap who's been entrusted with making this year's new design with Justin on it, stamped onto the most effeminate bill (if only we still had those pink $1000s around). For all I know, scathing Liberal/NDP attack ads are common in other places, too, but I guess Alberta's a lost cause for them.

But how will stamps (political or not) stay on the new polymer bills? This could be the end of an era...

I guess that's because we don't get to vote for Senators?

I'm waiting for the Senate to approve the official stamps celebrating Senators Mike Duffy and Pam Wallin ...

Oh wait a minute ..

....Why not a stamp to celebrate our wonderful past PM...Brian Muldooon ....(.....wasn't he nick named...lying Brian.......)

Wasn't he caught with $300.00.00 stuffed into his pockets and trying to sneak back into Canada with it.......sad..so sad...

In the "Mote/Beam" department, I would suggest that the best reform for your Upper Chamber is to pack it with ex-officio members, representatives of cultural & economic interests who are selected by some means not closely related to party politics. So, the managing directors of the major banks & the CN railway, the provosts of the great universities, the chiefs of the First Nations, some bishops (to mix it up, allow any religious body with adherents amounting to 1% nationwide, or 5% in any one province, to nominate someone), a few ranking military officers... more like a House of Lords, really, I guess.

To provide some numismatic content for my comment, I'll remark that such was the role of the US Senate as envisioned by Governour Morris, the Financier of the Confederation, who was also responsible for the intriguing "mark" currency proposal, based on harmonizing the values of the pound unit of account in the various states.
