I found a ten dollar star note. I know it has a mintage of 640,000 for it's year and bank but does having a filled in solid star with one that is not filled make a difference in value? any insight would be greatly be welcomed. I personally never have seen a solid star until this note. looks like the design of a older star not model to me.

A nice bill with a very low Serial, Congrats! I think that the new stars normally not are filled. Normally the stars should be the same. About the value? I'm not sure but I think there is a premium.

Oh Yes it is a real low number. ( Chicago 00006935* ) More than 99% of these stars have higher serial numbers. I think the low digits without the different stars brings a little more value for collectors. The Issue is with 640,000 small for the United States. Statistically, every American could get about 0.0020 of this star bills. But if you want a four-digit serial number, then it is even more scarce. The $ 10 bill has a lifespan of about 4.2 years. I think this bill could be rare some day.

You might get a few bucks over face on ebay. I am not sure about the stars though.. I never really see a lot of $10 star notes. 4 digit serial #'s are cool for people just getting into collecting, but once you get to 3,2,1 digit serials, the premium sky rockets!

I am not sure about the star, but you should be able to get a premium on ebay. I have sold bills with 2 zeros in front and no special serial number for over face. Nice find!

This would be known as a "Solid Star", sometimes it is labeled on the holder. Did a search on Heritage's archive and this kind of error(not sure if it is actually an error) seems to bring in quite a bit more than a similar conditioned normal star note.

Keep all star notes under 640,000 or post on ebay.
