Did anyone else notice that Coin World Coin Values list the Liberty Head coins as Coronet? PCGS list them as Liberty Head, and most ebay auctions list these types as Liberty Head.

So, according to Coin Values the Liberty Head "V" Nickel should be called Coronet "V" Nickel.

Never noticed. However, many people call many things by different names. A rose is a rose and by any other name is still a rose.

A coronet, of course, is the type of head band worn by Liberty in the coin design, hence, the series is called "Coronet" by many. The RedBook, one of the most widely distributed coin publication over the last 60 years, uses the name "Coronet" also (or at least they did, my latest copy is dated 1987).

If you type coronet head less auctions come up on ebay. I advice anyone to use Liberty Head, seeing that most sellers use the PCGS Price Guide for reference.

If searching ebay for, let's say, Half Eagles, the best search term would be:

Half eagle (coronet,liberty)

That way you get all Half eagle listings, whether they're called Coronet or Liberty. Don't put a space after the comma.

I don't agree, but I tried it anyway and here are the results.

You will get a total of 157 auctions if you use "Half Eagle (coronet, liberty)" this way, 156 if you use just Half Eagle Liberty, just 14 if you only use "Half Eagle Coronet".

If I use my method of search "$5 Liberty Head" my search returns 171.

I know some of the auctions all searches where not gold Half Eagles, but it is interesting nonetheless.
