I was looking through a bin of amazingly dirty Australian halves at a gold buyers' when a lady walked into the store with a bag of mixed coins, offering to sell. The employees didn't want the world coins, so I offered to buy them. I'd like to know if this is a fair price for both of us:

2 Ikes, 1976 + 1977 [both P]
1 Kennedy half, 1976-D
4 Canadian nickels from before 1982 (100% nickel composition)
Mexico, 50 old pesos, 1987
Mexico, 10 new centavos, 1998
Switzerland, 1 franc, 1968
Lincoln Cent, 1919, VG
Holed Canadian penny, 1974

This has been giving me angst, because as a matter of conscience, I didn't want to give a bad price, but I was out shopping so I wanted a good price. I paid $4.50 for the lot (assuming the Swiss franc is worth its face value of $1). Since then it's been bothering me. Is this a good deal for all involved?

I believe that to be a fair price. I'm not sure if any of the Pesos are silver, possibly?

Nope: 50 pesos first existed as a giant gold coin, there was an ultra-rare alleged platinum coin minted as well. The next time it showed up, Mexican inflation had progressed to the point where is was a cupro-nickel coin, which was then downsized 4 years later. I got a downsized one (but I like this series - the inflationary 5-pesos coin is basically too tiny to even have anything on it, so it just says $5, the year, and Mo).

I think that's fair, though here, I find those Bicentennial halves all day long. :) I'd have paid that for a nice assortment though.

I think that's the first year of the (magnetic) nickel franc. Pity.

My US centric brain finds Ikes referred to as world coins quite humorous.
