It's true that most all answers to questions posed on this forum can be found on the internet with a lot of searching but by asking it here, or even reasking an old thread, it exposes the question and answers to folks that never even knew the question/answer existed.
I have learned so much on this forum by reading questions or comments that I know could be found on the net. People have posted questions about coins I never knew exsisted and so many other tidbits of knowledge I wouldn't have known to look up. But by posting the questions/comments here we newbies have a chance to learn answers to questions we didn't even know we had.

I am not the most "technical savvy" individual around, but it is good to knock the cobwebs off every once in a while to research some of the questions that are posed here. I agree that the bigger majority of the questions asked are "Google-able" or "CCF-able" through old(er) threads. I do love a challenge though with some of the queries. Heck, even my mother, who has a technology phobia, will ask me to "Google" stuff for her.

Note that you can Google Search this forum (under the Search link, above); Bobby has mastered Search Engine Optimization to the point where most posts in CCF are Google indexed within a couple of minutes.

Yup, chances are good that a Google search will land you back here anyway.

Must admit, if people knew how to Google, this forum would be a lot less fun for me! I do feel proud, though, when a search finds the question already answered here.

Questions are what got m started here. I had a question about a Dryer Coin and I had researched alot and thot it was a planchet error. CCF set me straight and rekindled this old hobby of mine. Now, I cant get enough of it (Coins and CCF).

Problem is you can't always believe what you find on the internet by Googling or using Yahoo, Bing, etc. In many instances information if fake, wrong, dumb, erroneous and on and on and on. Kids post STUFF. Idiots post STUFF. Morons post STUFF. Yes in many instances you could ask a question in Google, find lots of replies, read a lot of them and end up knowing less than when you started. TRy asking Google how much a 1916D Mercury dime is for example. Yes you might get an answer but based on what? Might be a guess from a kid playing a joke or even your kid. Always best to try here. Nothing to loose and very possibly get the best, real, honest, reply. Of course be carefull if I did the reply.

So did I Dave. My point is to share the information on this forum with members that don't know what they don't know, like me. While the question or information may seem common knowledge or rehashed to the more experienced it is helping the inexperienced learn without spending oodles of time searching.
Example, just this morning I learned that I need a USB microscope, before reading the post I didn't even know they existed.

Quote: Example, just this morning I learned that I need a USB microscope, before reading the post I didn't even know they existed. Unfortunately that happens to me all the time, with coins, like the 1804 Large Cent, and Dollar, the 1913 Nickel, 1876-CC Dime, Brasher doubloons, etc. So instead I just purchase books and auction catalogs about them.

Does anyone like Bing?
I doubt it (probably the same person who uses Internet Explorer).
