I found this coin last night. Was very tired when I saw the memorial. In my crazy sleep deprived imagination, I could almost imagine a "shooter" behind the column and a blast that shoots out straight at Lincolns head. It even looks like his head has taken a hit. The entire right side has a cranial crack. I know, it sounds crazy, but I was tired. See what you think. Comments on the way this coin ended up like this is appreciated. Thanks all.

Im gonna say it is either the start of zinc rot or they are a die gouges/chips. Those are my best guesses.

It is linear plating gas. (Gas under the plating) This can occur under the fields or devices. Probably the more interesting one.

Actually it isn't rot at this point. The gas in sealed in at this point. If the plating was split, then the air starts the rotting process.
