Hi, I'm new to the board and to currency collecting. I collect silver U.S. coins and am happy to find this forum. I recently came across this 2006 $1 star note with mis-matched serial numbers. Since I'm ignorant to collecting currency, I was considering sending it off to be graded. I would appreciate any comments or help concerning my next move. Thanks again. JP

Thanks "Papermoney" for that value, I have been reading a lot in the last couple of hours and everything I have found tells me that having it graded is the way to go. I will be sending it off ASAP and hopefully I can list it here when I get it back.

Yes if you intend to sell it then getting it graded will let you get the most bang for your buck I think that on the low end once you get it graded you could sell it on ebay for around $800 but it all depends on how much somebody wants it :)

Thanks Arby96, About to send it off to be graded now. There's one on E-bay now but he doesn't seem to have any luck in selling it. Not sure why.

Err.. Personally, I wouldn't have it graded but that's just me. It seems more and more of these are showing up bring the hype down. Id think graded, you'd maybe get $100 more if your lucky on these specific notes. You should be able to sell it on ebay anywhere from $600 - $800.

How rare do you think this is? One in a million?

I'd say that it's defintely rare but a decent amount of these have popped up here and there over the last couple years. Still, they are darn cool and are the only star note errors with mismatched serial numbers that I've ever seen. I'd assume the value on these will continue to go up.
