Is the 1891 Marcy $1000 Silver Certificate really worth 2.6 million, in your opinion? Discuss, all members of this Coin Forum. Remember, it's a piece of paper with a borin' old Senator on it and an ornate "1000" on the back.

As much as I love old coins and currency I can't honestly say any item is worth 2.6 million but then again I don't have that kind of money to invest.

If I had 2.6 million...I would not spend it on that.

I can't even imagine how far that much money would go towards a series I really wanted to collect! Think of the fractional or Confederate set that much money would buy.

No one will probably have the chance to ever own another one. It is at least the rarity it is represented as. Based on prior sales of more common items, then yes 2.6 million sounds about right.

you have dashes (- and_) in the file name and you need to take those out to display the picture in your post
