This is an 1880-S Morgan dollar, and it has reflective surfaces in areas, and a good strike on the face of Liberty. I think it may be a proof, but tell me your opinion. It's not cleaned, and it's not a fake, so please don't respond w/ that. Plus, I only paid $55 for the darned thing!

Before even seeing this coin I would like to say that the early San Fran Morgans are very well struck and are notorious for being proof like. Notice Numismedia's FMV has most of the early San Frans at only $363 for a MS66 and just $169 for a MS65.
Also, I do not believe there has been any evidence of proofs being struck at the San Fran mint in 1880.

1880-S is one of the Morgans that I would say is a perfect type coin because they are usually hammered really hard and they are very plentiful is super high grades and DMPL examples are even readily available. So with that being said I am going to jump on the boat with 1916 D Merc and say it more than likely is a Business strike with either PL or DMPL surfaces, especially considering I do not believe there were any Proofs minted at the SanFransisco Mint in 1880, all the Proof Morgans were Minted at Philadelphia Mint that year

So, I doubt it's a proof. Dang. I would have made a good profit.
