I've called them five times over the past few weeks. Each time, I was assured that my box and Niagara coin would ship by mid-August at the latest. I called again on Friday August 16th, and pointed out that mid-August had arrived yet still no box and coin. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, the rep told me that they would ship by September. Ridiculous. Talk about moving the goalposts:( I asked why, and she kept repeating like a broken record that the shipping department can only ship 2,000 boxes per week. Well they have been telling me that for weeks, so they should have done some simple math and given realistic timeframes to customers like me. Am I only one who hates doing business with a de facto monopoly? Maybe I should start collecting coins from other mints. Would the service be any better? Who knows? Anyhoo, I feel the original poster's frustration...

still waiting as well. I did see it show up as a pending charge on credit card about a week ago, but never came through as a full charge yet. might be another situation where I get 2 coins at once, the april and may ones shipped out the same day for me.

Same here, still waiting, but you know what? I don't really care anymore.
Yeah I know its nice to have that instant gratification, but I stopped stressing over stuff like this. Unless it's a gift or something, the coins arrive when they arrive. I've already waited a year less a day for a coin I once ordered.
I'm not saying its right, I'm just saying I no longer care.

You're not alone in the RCM 'waiting game'. After waiting on my 1914 HS $5 gold for over 5 months, nothing surprises me about their shipping schedule. FWIW, I have 1 box, and still waiting on another. And on top of that, I'm still waiting for one of my Duck subscriptions. My rep has told me it's in the system, just 'waiting stock'. That phrase must be new-speak for 'the cheque is in the mail'.

I feel your pain. I waited 5 months for an inferior 1914 $5. Waited 6 months for Venetian coins and many others over the years and it's especially frustrating when the coins are for sale at CP offices just about everywhere. But the Mint has told more than one customer that they are shipping about 2k boxes a week - that's 400 a day, 50 an hour. They started shipping mid-July. Even if they sold only 15k subs, it will take until the end of August to ship them all and even longer if they have more than 15k (a guess) subs. I certainly am not one to defend their terrible shipping practices but this one seems to be just a case of volume. I'm also to the point where I get it when I get. My only issue with that is, one has be careful to track what they've spent so as not to overspend. It's easy to order every month but not always so easy to deal with the CC bill that comes months later. Before you know it, a few bucks here and there has turns into a few thousand.

I never fail to be astounded by the long waits folks have to endure to receive their orders. I think there is a need to hire more staff in the Royal Canadian Mint's shipping department. How about abolishing the Senate and putting those 100 Senators to work for the mint! After all they're already in Ottawa. Say, isn't that Mister Duffy in the photo? Oh wait a minute, maybe not such a good idea... Oh well, anyone else have an idea?

Let's say, if it a real situation in RCM, so I can suggest to 100 unsatisfied customers to help with the shipments. Or, to hire more workers, by ceasing the "free shipment" for the MC. Will we be more happy? Saying this I do not defend RCM's failure to ship in time.

I would guess many (though maybe not all) of the delays are production related not simple shipping issues - not exactly a ready supply of specialized and skilled temporary labour kicking around Ottawa so that might be a solution that is hard to implement. That said, I don't believe the Mint really think the long delays are a problem...for them. If they did, they'd do something about it. Without free shipping, there is no MC. Not a chance I would buy directly from the Mint and pay shipping when I can order or go to a Post Office and get it free.

CC, I'm sure that you're right that delays for other items may reflect the lack of having said items to ship, but sheesh... do you really think that there is a shortage of the boxes for the 12 1/2 oz coins? One doesn't require highly skilled employees to to pack a box in a box, n'est pas?
You are also correct the the long delays mean very little to the mint. Perhaps if and when orders decline, those responsible for improving customer service will get the message.
In the meantime folks, be prepared for more long wait times to get your orders, and always on a haphazard basis.

You read something I didn't type - didn't suggested there was a shortage of the boxes. What I did suggest is that in general, the issues are often production related (including engraving, die making, minting the coins and even materials logistics) not simply the shipping guy taking too many breaks or being swamped. The Mint is not going to go out and hire people short term to ship these 12 coin set boxes. That makes even less business sense than delaying shipping a few weeks. And robbing Peter (MC members) to pay Paul (temp shipping people) is not going to fly either. That's all. Is there a shortage of boxes? I have no idea. Just saying that, while it's annoying to have to wait, it's only been a few weeks. Now if we still have this same conversation in October, I'll be right behind you as we break through the Mint gates with a battering ram, pitchforks and torches in hand.
