I just got an MS-70 ASE from APMEX with a big milk spot right in the middle of the coin. Since I've only been collecting silver for 2 months, I'm asking what should I do? Should I leave it alone? Should I open the PCGS package and clean it with jewelry wipes? I need some advise.

PCGS slabs cant be opened without destroying the value of whats inside. You can clean just bullion if you want its not a big deal if its just silver but never clean numismatic coins. Buying a graded 70 makes anything numismatic even if its the bullion one. The mint is having a problem with milk spots this year for some reason. If you just got it you can try and swap it with APMEX for another one, but if its past that date the only thing you could do is sell it and get another one.

Yep, they've been fair with me, I'd see about retuning it for a pristine one. 70s are supposed to be "perfect".

Yes they should have described it better, was it not pictured well?

Yes ask for return sure they will understand. No MS-70 on earth should have any blemish much less a spot....

You have 3 days to call them and inform them. They'll forward the info to their returns dept. who will send you an email (usually the same day) with return authorization number and instructions. You jot down the problem and if you want a refund or exchange. I've read others say that APMEX paid for the return shipping, but, I have NEVER been so lucky. For returns more than small dollar value, I'll insure it and send it signature confirmation. They email you when they receive it, and then another email when they've processed your return (either refund or exchange).

Definitely return it. I'm not sure how the procedure works but I see that others do. I'm saddened to hear such news, firstly because APMEX sold it to you and more so because PCGS graded such a coin MS70.

Milk spots can appear days weeks or months after grading. They just happen from the plancets not being properly washed/dried and theres no way to tell that it will appear. Theres no chance they give an MS70 to something already stained and when they saw it it almost certainly looked clean still
