I picked up my usual 2 boxes of Loomis half dollars which were both sealed the first box was completely normal but the second box had one brinks roll in it and 49 Loomis roll when I dumped the rolls out I noticed that about 2/3 of the box had already been searched. Some of the Loomis rolls had just been opened at the top and then folded shut and the rolls recycled like I do to my rolls when I search them. Could these be my rolls that I have recycled? and why was there 1 brinks roll? I have been doing 2 boxes of Loomis halves a week for about 4 months now and dropping them off in the recycled rolls at a different branch than I picked them up from. Has anything similar ever happened to you guys?

Same happened to me. Loomis box with 2/3 recrimped Loomis rolls and 1/3 S & S recrimped rolls.
No bank in my area will take rolled coins.
One of the rolls had my name and phone number.
I thought it was the devil messing with me but after further thought it was the rolls I took to Home Depot and payed my bill with a few months ago. I guess their pickup currier would take recrimped rolls no questions asked and then redistribute them.

I live by 4-5 different bank organizations and do what you do and get coins from one and return them to another. Banks ain't stupid, though, and they'll take silver ones out if they find any. One teller from a bank would ask me what I would do with the coins, while another, who was a lot older and from a different branch, knew that I was hunting. Sometimes, they'll give me boxes that have nothing but entirely new coins, which is a huge troll because I wasted my time and gas. I like boxes that contain only circulated stuff. In the past, I've found wheats, pre/post WW2 nickels (for album), silver nickels, misc, and even 2 buffaloes, with one being a FR02 1913D type I that I traded for a 1909P wheat, a 1916-P merc dime, and a 1907 Barber dime. I need to make multiple accounts to get/order/use the machine for free/etc. Just need enough dough to put inside all those accounts to avoid the minimum fees and such. If anyone wants to donate to help my little cause, let me know, lol :P

Trent C, It very well could be your rolls. The best way to avoid searching the same coin is to figure out which banks use Loomis and which banks use Brinks(or other courier). You always hear about people asking which bank should I use to get better results. Truth is, it's not about the bank. You should buy one courier and dump in to a different courier.
Most CRHers begin their career with visions of a deep vault, hoping that if they search enough, they'll get to 'the good stuff'. In truth, CRHers are just passing coin back and forth waiting for people to dump silver in to the supply. By dumping one courier and buying the other, you will avoid or postpone searching the same coin.

Whenever I ordered boxes in this area, I always got rolls that were already searched. REALLY annoying, never any keepers besides a few late 2000s (from mint sets, no proofs). Those area really just considered "oddities" once circulated anyway, no real value.
My area is only good for customer wrapped roll, or anything customers bring in. Upstate NY seems to have searchers at every bank. Luckily I have the tellers save me things. I get them sweets every once in a while. It's way better than searching through thousands of dollars of searched halves. just the other day they even saved my a $1 silver certificate. I get all the ikes, plenty of silver, etc. Just be nice and make the tellers know you appreciate it!

Thanks for the replies everyone I searched the crimped rolls and of course there was no silver but a did find a NIFC and I always pull those out so they probably are not my old ones. And I found 2 40% in the other box witch I will take any day. So when vaults run out of coins do they buy coins from other vaults and is this why I got a brinks roll in my box? And String and son just sells coin wrappers and doesn't roll them there selves right?

Quote: Banks ain't stupid, though, and they'll take silver ones out if they find any. This is very true. I asked if my bank had any halves or dollar coins, and they actually said they did. I got excited, and then my excitement fell when the teller looked both over good, and even asked the other tellers if they were saving them.

I hate to to say it, but the more I read about current CRH conditions and trends, the more I think the most efficient way to accumulate US 90% silver coins is to get a part-time job and blow the paychecks at the LCS.
I enjoy reading about those delightful and lucky, highly productive boxes, but I never had one of them come my way.

I must agree Freddy, as much as I love to roll hunt, I don't order halves anymore. It all just seems ridiculous, my wife is a teller and all my dumps of everything get snapped up at her bank, and the hunters keep on coming. It's all being searched to death, and I give credit to those hunters that can keep it up week after week, just to find a few measly halves. Personally, I am way ahead of my game buying silver outright.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72
