Before I had a safe, I had just two valuable coins, each valued at over $3,000. They were stored inside a standard 2x2 inide a single album pocket cut from an album page.
They were hidden under a slightly loosened permanently laid carpet, in a hard to get at part of a bedroom. Even if you looked closely at the spot it where they were, it was virtually impossible to see that the carpet had been disturbed.
Later on after we had moved house, I made two brackets out of sheet metal, to house one coin each. The brackets were screwed to the underside of a bathroom vanity top, and the coins were slid between the bracket and the underside of the vanity top.
I tried to hide some chocolates from the kids, taped behind the back of a beadhead. No problem for the kids, they set the dog to work, and he went straight to the chocolates!
Fortunately, coins don't smell.

You can't steal digital assets though, so poor criminal...
Here are some more suggestions on where to hide stuff: Septic tank, Dog house, Create a sculpture or furniture out of it and disguise it, Safety deposit box, Floor boards, Groundhog tunnel, In the ceiling, On your roof (great for floods), In your fireplace/chimney, In the open right next to a good live camera system, In a lake, Taped underneath doors, In your muffler, Inside a turkey in a freezer, Under the carpeting, Cast a flagpole out of your bullion and erect it right there on your property, Under some pavement/cement, In a pig pen, In a shell (hollowed out objects like shaving cream or books), Behind a false wall, In the woods/swamp/marsh, In your garden (must be functional), In a well, Under stone tiles, In a stair handrail, In the dishwasher, Under the fridge, Make a decoy stash (add recent stuff like a recent receipt to make it look not old), In your DVD collection, Mill your bullion out into a large flat sheet and put it anywhere, At your in-laws', In your eavesdrops, Air vents, Tape them onto anything, In your dirty laundry, Superglued under your boat (would this work?)...
Basically I'm trying to confuse criminals here by giving them tons of disgusting places to look. So don't hide your stuff there. Or not. Bullion is quite versatile. It can be reformed if needed, but also it can hide in places where paper money can't.

I didnt read em all but heres my favourite - go into the chimney and put in a hook, up inside it. Then you can just hang a bag in there.
Theres also another method. Its pretty permanent, but noone will be finding it. Buy a whiteboard, write soem tedious crud on it. Hollow out a bit inside the wall, mount the board over it - screw it in tight. Of course, tap the board and you'll hear the hollow.
My favourite method is to leave decoys, personally.

I'd personally be more concerned about what would happen to my Lego. A thief would probably leave my silver and take my Julius Caesar minifigure.

DB---I'm with you there. I got a Jabba's Palace lego set just before they became extinct. With spot down where it is these days, my Jabba's Palace is probably worth more than my stack...

The first thing you do is never tell your kids that you have bullion or coin collection. Kids always brag and sooner or later a friend of a friend is trying to rob you. You could put in in a Bowling ball bag in the main closet. Inside of a Pinball machine if you have one. Inside of a recessed light pull the trim off and stick it inside of the housing. Ceiling fan remove the globe take the bulb out replace with coins reinstall globe. The hollow book trick d it with a encyclopedia or dictionary.

When it comes to properly hiding PMZ I am SERIOUS as a heart attack and I DO NOT joke around about stuff of such EXTREME importance. I am real STICKLER when it comes to the hidding spots, and INSURE that the most state of art high tech computers, alarms, laser trip wires, trap door attack dog release cages, spike pits, etc. are all in place to protect my stash as seen in example below next post.....
I am almost forty and VERY mature by the way so with a strait face I share this....

If you have room to store it then Lego can be a really good investment. Sets are only manufactured for a limited time and when they're discontinued they're gone for good.
You've just got to be careful to pick the right theme. Something like Star Wars is a reasonably safe bet because it's so popular with adults and with three more films coming it will stay on people's minds for the foreseeable future.
That said, buying Lego sets as a pure investment is frowned upon. At the end of the day it's a toy, and supposed to be played with.

Yes - the Zombie mini figure originally sold for £1.99 though it was a rar-ish piece. I've seen ones go on ebay for £20+. That's quite a good return in a few years.
