Hey, I know theres a few members which like to trawl the bay in search of coins. Heres one I've set my sights on, but I wont be able to watch it time out. So just making sure no-one else here is watching it.

This is the one:
Please-Dont-Bid-On-This!
Please-Dont-Bid-On-This!

Yeah. So please let er' be. Ill be deciding my maximum bid over the next day - ill let you guys know, if anyone wants it and it goes over its fair game. I assume its not been tagged by any other forum member because its bidless but if anyones been watching it, PM me.

No reply necessary, just an announcement which I hope falls within the rules. If not, take it down and I'm sorry!

What is it? (other than really interesting...)

Don't worry, I'm not going to snipe it. Just curious.

I know what it is! Oh and I can't buy it because TIF drove me over the Punic Edge...and I am glad she didn't didn't see what I bought while sulking over the Carthage monster.

I guess the post "falling within the rules" depends on weather you intend to keep it or to make a profit from it

Geoff, I've checked my accounts and I guess (at a stretch) I suppose I could take a few free euros.

And I dont intend to sell. This is a really interesting peice. Id only sell it if I was in need of food in uni.

An anonymous roman quadrans. One side shows a winged Petasus, the other side a Caduceus. Both of these are carried by Hermes/Mercury. Its from around Domitian's time. Rated Very Rare.

If I am not mistaken doesn't this coin date to the reign of Hadrian?

No idea. I looked it up and the description suggested Domitian. I dont have any literature to check it against.

ROME. temp. Hadrian-Antoninus Pius. Circa AD 120-161
Æ Quadrans (16mm, 2.94 g, 7h)
Rome mint
Petasus
Winged caduceus; S C flanking
Weigel 18; RIC II 32; Cohen 36

Weigel reconsiders the anonymous quadrantes as a cohesive group. The series portrays a pantheon of eleven deities: Jupiter, Minerva, Roma, Neptune, Tiber, Mars, Venus, Apollo, Mercury, Bacchus/Liber, and Hercules. Types are primarily a portrait of the god, with an attribute on the reverse and are usually influenced by (but not directly copied from) earlier designs, primarily from the Republic. He updates the series to the reigns of Hadrian and Antoninus.

That was taken from the coin a friend of mine has.
