I won this auction, but I looked up NNC and found out that it's fraudulent, so should I go ahead with this auction?

There's no way that it's ms-65, is it?

Looks like the auction is now over. As to any grading company "Buy the coin - NOT the holder", that mentioned NNC isn't so much a fraud, they are just another company slabbing coins which they grade themselves with no over sight, or market input. Companies like PCGS, NGC & ANACS all offer a guarantee in writing backed by real money. I only trust them, in grading accurately and consistently. ICG and SEGS are also up there on my list as was PCI & Dominion when they were in business. PCGS and ANACS are IMO the top two right now, NGC gets way too many variety attributions wrong it seems, especially with Morgan dollar VAMs.

The coin I saw you asked about would grade around AU53 in any of the top 3 TPGs IMO. It's current value? about $33-42.00 today. I have no idea why they call this a rainbow coin there is no sort of rainbow toning on it either.

Oh and by the way! You've found a great place to learn and ask questions about coins here at CCF!

The photos are not very revealing but I'm seeing an AU coin. I purchased coins in NNC holders years ago knowing they are typically graded 2 -3 numbers higher than actual. That came to an end when I won a coin graded MS66 and it ended up being an AU coin in hand. I've never even looked at another auction by the originator of these so called graded coins since (except when a particular coin is posted here on CCF)
The seller of this coin made no claim to the grade of the coin, but did picture the number on the slab, but I think the lot number says it all - AU12. I'm not sure what you can do with a no return policy and no actual claim to the grade but I'm sure some others will have opinions and suggestions. Good luck in the future!
And to CCF! We're all collectors with learning experiences.

I think you answered your own question. Did you end up getting this one or not?

Nope. I didn't pay and the seller offered to cancel.

Good news the only way that coin might have been worth that much is if it was an O/O variety VAM.

Definitely not MS-65. The coin doesn't have much wear but it shows signs of handling and impaired luster on the high points and fields. No better than AU-58

Sorry guys, I have to disagree on this one, looks pretty darn scratch and wear free to me, just usual weak strike above the ear, I think the reverse is near perfect. Bad lighting and the toning stop the cartwheels on this one. MS65 I would have graded.
Or the new glass installed by some sketchy person at the mall is messing me up lol

I don't think so; I would agree with the AU group.

The pictures are hard to grade from. My first thought was a mid AU since some scuffing in the left obverse field looks similar to some AU coins that I have seen. It could be MS, maybe a low end, but extremely unlikely a 65.
